Nestled within the fertile expanses of the Lowlands Region, Vatesia was a province of the Imperium Asraniae. Established in the Year 45 AC (After Cataclysm) by decree of Imperator Aurelian, from hard fought land of the Imperial-Ardaling Wars of 41–42 AC, when the Lowlands became a fiercely contested frontier.
The province’s first governor, Barnabas Domitius — a loyal servant of Aurelian and seasoned statesman — was entrusted with the task of restoring order to the countryside and integrating Maximarensis firmly into the fabric of the Imperium.
Following the collapse of the Imperium during the Caorrani Civil War, the peace treaty demanded the province split from the Imperium or face conquest by the Kingdom of Ascalon. Barnabas Domitius sued for peace, forming the province into the Grand Duchy of Vatesia.
