Bannermen

Bannermen are expected to provide their military strength to the Royal Army. They command their own troops in battle, as well as their vassals', under the guidance of their assigned General, serving as Lieutenants of the main army of the Kingdom.

This title is usually reserved to those that hold subrealms directly under Nova Lúria, for they have the power to raise levies from their lands.

They can control anything from a single unit of skirmishers, to several units of plate infantry, making every Bannerman indispensable for the defense of the Kingdom.

Since Bannermen usually hold titles beneath the Crown, they too can call upon their vassals, further streghtening the Royal Army, being responsible for small scale battles and sieges.

They are the backbone of the Nova Lúrian armies, for without them, the Generals and the Commander would have no troops to command.

Realm Description

The Collapse of the Hawk Realms and the Rise of Luria

The Kingdom of Nova Lúria emerged from the ruins of the once-mighty Hawk Realms, whose territories fell into vulnerability following the mass Slumber of their rulers. Seizing the opportunity, the Rathgarian Confederation launched a brutal campaign of raids, dismantling the old order and throwing the southern region into chaos. In a bid to consolidate their gains, the Rathgari appointed a native noble, Enacio Leal Seriaro, to govern the newly subdued lands.

Enacio, crowned as the first King of Luria, sought to unify the fragmented provinces, including the crucial region of Beluna, as well as Jaramid and Rómenala, forging a singular, sovereign Kingdom, with him as the Duke of the Royal Duchy of Lintia. His vision was to craft a new Lurian identity from the broken fragments of the old, rising from ruin to restore order. Though he achieved a degree of formal unification, the cultural, political, and tribal divides of the realm remained deep, and true cohesion proved elusive.

His reign was ultimately cut short by the onset of the Slumber, plunging the region of Luria once again into uncertainty. The Royal Council, fraught with internal strife, appointed Duchess Verana Meona of Jaramid as his successor. Her brief reign was marred by hesitation and controversy, especially following her public conversion to the Solisian faith. Her abrupt abdication in favor of Solar Ecclesiarch Helia I sparked speculation: was Verana a willing penitent, or had the Ecclesia moved to take control from behind the veil of sanctity?

The Ecclesial Regency and the Solisian Effort to Unify Nova Lúria

With Verana's abdication, Nova Lúria entered the period known as the Ecclesial Regency. Solar Ecclesiarch Helia ascended on 43-52-6, asserting both spiritual and temporal authority in the name of divine unity. Her stewardship marked a shift in governance, away from feudal disputes and toward ecclesial order, guided by the light of Aeternum Solis.

Helia's rule focused on stabilizing the realm and crafting a unifying cultural framework rooted in Solisian orthodoxy. Through the expansion of The Asrian Solisian Church's influence, the construction of sanctuaries, and the propagation of shared religious rites, she sought to bind the Kingdom's disparate peoples through common faith.

On 44-2-5, Helia abdicated voluntarily in favor of Dom Afonso Miguel, O Fundador, a noble of Belunese blood and a heir to the ancient House of Rochalva through a cadet branch. Afonso's ascension signaled a return to dynastic rule under ecclesial blessing, an attempt to blend temporal strength with spiritual legitimacy.

The Failure of Dom Afonso Miguel and the Dismantlement of the Kingdom

Unlike the promises he made at his coronation, Dom Afonso Miguel proved far more ruthless and authoritarian than the Royal Council had anticipated. He demanded that all his vassals renew their oaths of undying fealty and convert to the Asrian Church, under threat of forfeited titles and imprisonment.

It soon became evident that Dom Afonso Miguel served as little more than Helia's puppet, a monarch whose purpose was to ready Nova Lúria for annexation into the Imperium Asraniae as a southern Imperial Province.

When the Asrian Empire invaded Caorran, a Kingdom that likewise followed Solis, Imperator Aurelian insisted that Nova Lúria dispatch troops to bolster his Legions in subjugating the Caorrani and their Ascalonian allies.

The Dukes of Beluna and Rómenala refused outright, and at first so did the Duchess of Jaramid, though her ties to the Asrians ran deeper than most suspected, a truth foreshadowed by her kin's earlier abdication to Helia.

Regardless, all three Lurian Duchies ultimately declared independence on 45-34-2, supported and guaranteed by the Legions of the Erstes Imperium. As the Asrians suffered defeat in the far West at the hands of Ascalon, many Asrian noble families fled to Jaramid, exposing the depth of the Duchess's involvement.

She had dispatched more than 10.000 soldiers to Aradosyna, claiming they were to fight the Asrians. Yet Ascalonian officers uncovered her true intent: an attack upon Caorran and Ascalon. Combined with the flood of Asrian nobles welcomed into her lands, and the fact that these supposed "refugees" were then given Jaramidian troops to invade Turindië, a kingdom that collapsed under their sudden assault, it became unmistakably clear how thoroughly the Duchess had entangled herself in Aurelian's schemes.

The Asrian's War against Erstes, Ascalon and Eldamar

It was from this discovery that Ascalon launched its invasion of Jaramid, while Erstes chose not to intervene. Soon after, the Duchy of Rómenala and the Kingdom of Turindië collapsed under the onslaught of the Iron Brotherhood, who would later style themselves as the Sarantines. Seizing the moment, the Kingdom of Eldamar struck at the Asrians who operated under the guise of the Sarantine Dominion, a blow quickly followed by Erstes' own incursion into Jaramid with the support of troops from Beluna.

Overwhelmed on every front, the Asrians were forced into retreat. Many fled into exile, many others succumbed to the Slumber, a phenomenon widely regarded as an act of divine intervention. By then, the Kingdom of Nova Lúria had long since ceased to possess any real territory after the three Duchies declared independence. It remained a Kingdom only in name, an empty shell clinging to its titles.

Abandoned by Dom Afonso Miguel and his so-called "rightful" heirs, Nova Lúria turned at last to Duke Albertiano Rochalva of Beluna, Afonso's own cousin, who was elected King-in-name by the few who still claimed the Lurian identity on 47-29-1.
