This mantle is borne by the most devout and battle-hardened among the Custodians, a paragon of martial might and theological conviction. The Custodian Commander does not merely lead the Chapter in war — they embody its purpose: the relentless extermination of the Imperium’s enemies in the name of Aeternum Solis.

The responsibilities of the Custodian Commander extend beyond battlefield command:

  • Executioner of the Sacred Will: The Custodian Commander is the living arbiter of divine justice, interpreting the Catechism to mete out annihilation with theological precision.
  • Guardian of the Pilgrim Roads: From Antigonia, the Custodian Commander oversees the Lowlands patrols safeguarding the sacred pilgrimage routes. Any who threaten the faithful — heretic, daemon, or barbarian — are swiftly and ruthlessly expunged.
  • Voice of the Flame: Though distant from Sunspire, the Custodian Commander retains direct correspondence with the Solar Ecclesiarch, offering counsel or condemnation as the Chapter sees fit.
  • Keeper of Ayma’s Legacy: The Custodian Commander is charged with preserving the Chapter’s origin mythos, invoking the example of Ayma Argovius to inspire unflinching discipline among the ranks.

The Chapter of the Avenging Sun is an Asrian Chapter of the Bright Custodians, situated in the Lowlands region. Renowned for their fervent dedication and zealous ethos surpassing even their peers among the Custodian Chapters, they have garnered a reputation for zealous devotion. Established by Ayma Argovius during the Battle of Naxos, she led the vanguard, personally spearheading the charge.

Their operational center resides within the venerable bastion of Baile Helibore. From this stronghold, their vigilant patrols set forth, standing watch along the routes traversed by pilgrims en route from the Imperium Asraniae. Their mission remains unwavering – to shield these seekers of sacred destinations from any potential threats.

Following Ayma Argovius's passing, leadership of the Lowlands Chapter transferred to Sidereus Nuncius, coinciding with a shift towards isolationism, partly due to their geographical remoteness from Sunspire.
