Riverturn is a part of Caorran.
This is the rulership position for the realm.
The Barony of Riverturn, formerly styled The Royal Barony of the Farudi River’s Turn, is a landholding situated along the sweeping bend where the Farudi River veers southward, an area of both strategic and symbolic importance within the heartlands of Caorran.
Originally granted as a wedding gift by King Eoghan II to his consort, Queen Margaret de Bordeleaux, the barony was established as a royal fief, held directly by the Queen and distinct from the ordinary feudal hierarchy. Its designation as “Royal” reflected not only its prestigious ownership, but also the fertility of its riverside lands and its position at a natural crossroads of trade, agriculture, and military movement.
Riverturn stood as a quiet yet revered holding, emblematic of the Queen's personal legacy and the delicate balance between the Crown and the marcher lords. However, in the aftermath of the Rivacheg Rebellion, Queen Margaret formally abdicated her claim to the barony as part of the reconciliation accords. In a gesture of political prudence and symbolic redress, the barony was granted to Lord Tristan von Rivacheg, leader of the rebellion and newly restored noble of Araluen.
Lord Tristan subsequently integrated Riverturn into the March of Araluen, transforming it from a royal estate into a fortified and functional border barony under his rule. Though the name Riverturn endures, its royal associations have faded, replaced by its current role as a key stronghold in the governance and defense of Araluen’s riverlands.
