Kvernes Coast is a part of Arescod and both are parts of Ascalon.
This is the rulership position for the realm.
The Sheriff of the County of Kvernes Coast possesses a writ bearing the seal of the Count, confirming his authority to enforce county law. The sheriff's duties include peacekeeping, tax collection, and the mustering of levies.
Unique to Kvernes, the current Count has amended the writ to not only affirm the Sheriff's ability to enforce the law but to also "enact the will of the Count as seen fit."
Kvernes Coast has long been a quiet region of Ascalon. A kind climate and access to the shore has allowed for easy living, and the shelter of the vast forest has largely shielded its denizens from the politics of Arescod.
Now, however, the coast is in a time of change. Along Kvernes' Finger, the peninsula on which Kaenlar sits, a wind of commerce blows. A new lord has brought with him enterprising guildsmen and displaced migrants from the lost regions of Riverdale and Falconreach, all of which have been welcomed in their droves. Harbors expand and land is cleared for crops in the peninsula, but the townships deeper within the forests welcome few into their groves. The old traditions of Vilnar hold strong in The Glade, and traces of the time of Muras are still evident.
There is no unified identity among the people of the coast, and whether the new lords of the region shall unite all into one, or seek other methods, is not clear.
